Microphone issues
Hi, I'm new to the forum, and I thought I'd ask here for help.
Recently I've been having a microphone issue, it just suddenly stopped working, and I don't know why. It was working fine until I took the cords out of the computer to listen to my iPod, but when I plugged them back in, the sound still goes through the headphones, but the microphone does not work. I tested this by using the test feature in Ventrilo, and also using the program to set up a microphone in the control panel of Windows Vista. One thing I see happen though is that in the Recording tab of my Sound window, it says the "Front Mic" is plugged in and working while the "microphone" says it's unavailable. It alternates between the two when I switch the cords from the back of my computer to the front, and vice versa. I took a screen shot to try and help. http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...0/Untitled.jpg That picture shows when my headset is plugged into the FRONT of my computer. If there's anything I can do to fix this, please let me know. Thank you! |

Re: Microphone issues
My only thought would be to uninstall and reinstall the audio software/drivers.
Simply removing the reconnecting the cables shouldn't cause any issues if the PC is powered off. I don't know why Vista would be reversing the inputs unless there is a software issue. And of course, it could simply be a hardware issue.
