LCD monitor blinking power light
Ok, so I found this forum through google so I've tried that, I've also tried the forums search feature, but it keeps giving me a fatal error message, so please don't yell at me if this has been asked a bajillion times already.
Anyways, my friend gave me his broken LCD monitor and said if I can fix it I can have it. So after taking it apart and testing some things out, I think it may be the LCD screen itself. First when you plug it in, all you get is a blinking power light. That is, unless you unplug the cable that controls the LCD display. If you unplug that, then it powers up normaly, backlight comes one, volume controls work, et cetera et cetera. You can then plug that display cable thing back in and the screen works (with odd vertical lines and fuzzy), but if you turn it off then back on with that cable hooked up, you get the blinking power light and no power up. This also has nothing to do with computer drivers/video cards since it's not even hooked up to a computer yet. So, is it the LCD screen, or the controller board or something? And is it possible to buy just the LCD part if it is that? And about how much am I looking to spend on it? Thanks in advance. |

Re: LCD monitor blinking power light
I'm no expert, but there are 4 basic parts: LCD panel, back light, power assembly, and the electronic portion. In this case, it would appear to be the electronic portion that has failed. Someone with more experience may give you better information.
As for price, I have no idea. As with most hardware, replacement parts are outrageously priced. It typically isn't cost effective to repair anything anymore unless you use other "failed" units for parts. Good luck.
