Dell Dimension 3000 DVI Capable?

I need a new monitor and am considering an LCD widescreen. If my computer isn't DVI capable, I need some sort of adapter according to what I've read, but I have no idea how to find out if it is or not. Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

Re: Dell Dimension 3000 DVI Capable?

You can only adapt DVI output to a VGA monitor, not a VGA output to a DVI monitor.
What monitor are you looking at?

Acer X193WBD 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor

http://www.globalcomputer.com/applic...IN#detailspecs

There's a Product Guide, Knowledge ... section that says:
"If your Computer supports DVI ports, but the Monitor does not, then a DVI to VGA adaptor is available at low cost to solve this. Or inversely, if the Computer output is only VGA, and the Monitor supports DVI, adaptors are available for this as well."

So, I guess what I need to know is if my computer outputs VGA, right?

Thanks.

Re: Dell Dimension 3000 DVI Capable?

The monitor linked has DVI and VGA inputs so it will work either way.

Interface Type: DVI
VGA

Input Video Signal: DVI-D
D-Sub

Re: Dell Dimension 3000 DVI Capable?

But I'm asking about if the computer has the correct output. Isn't that what I need to know?

Re: Dell Dimension 3000 DVI Capable?

There are 2 types of output DVI and VGA the monitor handles both.

DVI
