Hello-
Yesterday, I thought I would upgrade my Ram so I opened my case and took it out to see exactly what I had. I then put it back in my computer, but like an idiot I put it in the opposite way. I quickly realized it when my monitor wouldn't display anything, but I had the pc running for a few seconds like that. I adjusted the ram to be correctly set in the slot, I turned on the computer and still nothing would display. I thought that maybe my monitor was messed up, but I switched it with another one and the same thing happened. I also thought that maybe I fried my video card, but I put in another one and the same thing happened. So my question is, did I fry my ram, or maybe (dear god i hope this isn't true) mess up my motherboard by putting the ram in the wrong way? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

It is painful to read that. What happened to your computer is probably a big problem, because most problems like those are. You should try the RAM in another computer if you can, but it might be too old. All of the newer RAM has the "accident-proof" indentations on the chip so you can't put it in the wrong way. Your RAM is more than likely too old for that, and finding a computer with the same RAM will be difficult. If you do manage to test it, and it works okay, then you should test your video card, too. It could be a variety of problems, so just try everything and rule out the cause. Good luck.
