The CD/DVD drive will not open.

This is the second time I've had this problem. The first time it happened was after I was auto-updated to Vista SP2. When that happened I rolled back after seeing suggestions from others and it worked fine after that. Now, it's not opening at all. I have to use a paperclip to open it.

Does the drive work properly other than the tray not opening?
If so, I would say the drive is worn out.

No, it doesn't. It shows up in My Computer, but in Windows Media Player, when I open the Burn tab, it says "connect a burner and restart the player".
The only time the drive opens normally is immediately at boot. But after loading Windows, it doesn't open. When I used the paperclip to open it, I inserted a disc to see if it would read anything, it didn't.
