DVD ROM drive problems

I recently purchased a BenQ dvd rom drive and installed it properly. The problem is I don't get any sound out of my dvd's. Sound comes fine from CD's and everything else. The DVD plays fine there just isn't any sound.

Sorry to state the obvious, but presumably you have double clicked on the loudspeaker icon and made sure that all the little squares are unchecked and the volumes turned up. I've been caught like that before when Windows did one of its random alterations behind my back!

Check in Device Manager and see if Digital sound is enabled for the DVD. Try playing a CD in the DVD to make sure it's not a DVD CODEC issue that's causing the sound issue.

Benq dvd dw1620 sound problem

I have the same problem. There is sound when playing music cd's, but when I play dvd's there is no sound. All the speaker settings are correct and Digital sound is selected in device manager, I have updated all the drivers as well.
Please can anybody help, as this is driving me crazy.

No DVD Sound Issue resolved?

I am going nuts trying to figure out the problem. I have 2 drives and both act the same way... Play all sounds fine EXCEPT DVD sound. Tried multiple software (Windows media player, Cybervision, PowerDVD) to no avail. My volume is not mute, and I have "enable digital" checked in DVD properties...
Did you resolve your problem? How?
