Can anyone help me out here...my monitor is getting blurry on me.
It's a KDS VS-7i, 5 years old. It's been fine up until now. I've tried changing the settings, but it hasn't made a difference. Is it just time for a new monitor or are there other suggestions out there? (my eyes don't need a check-up...it's happening with everyone that uses it. ) I've also tried to change the text size, but that doesn't seem to help either. Thank you to everyone in advance!

If you didnt do it yet i'd suggest taking the monitor and plugging it into another PC to see if the imagine is fuzzy there too. This way you'll know for sure its not the gfx card in your PC.
If its indeed the monitor there isnt really much you can do besides having it serviced by a technician and as we all know that will be more expensive than buying a new one. I think depending on the ammount of usage 5 years is a pretty normal lifespan for a monitor. Most start showing problems after that (some even before) - loss of brightness/ contrast/ picture quality etc.

I just switched it over to the old computer and it's still doing it, so I'm going to assume that it's the monitor. Is a person supposed to turn it off every night (nor do I turn off the computer), because I don't...maybe that's cutting its life short, huh?

It can shorten the life span - do you have your monitor go into power savings standby mode etc overnight ?
I never turn my PC off either - and my monitor goes into standby after 10 minutes of not using it. In the past i usually switched monitors after 3-4 years.

In Windows XP - control panel, power options, power schemes, -> turn off monitor. When you set that to lets say 10 minutes - then it'll go into the standby mode after that time - and usually when "wiggeling" the mouse, pressing a key on the keyboard it'll come right out of the standby mode.
