Upgrading RAM on Gateways
We recently tried to upgrade the RAM on our Gateway, ( yeah I know, Gateway's are the worst PC possible), but that's all I got. Anyway, We tried 3 different Packages and none worked.
Upon power up after replacing the RAM, there are a series of system beeps, then nothing. The monitor turns on, but we have to reset the system. We also tried just 1 old 64MB in a slot and the new 128MB in the second slot, and the symptoms remained the same. I am currently running Windows ME and have 96MB RAM. We took a 32MB RAM out of my Daughters PC and added it to Ours. So We now have 2 spereate Slots, which have 64MB in Slot 1 and 32MB in Slot 2. Both of which the RAM was supplied by Gateway when our PC's were purchased. We can't seem to get anything to work besides the RAM that was supplied by GATEWAY. Do we have to use what Gateway supplies or are we doing something wrong? Thanks in advance. Krystal |

Well I dont really know what kind of ram you where trying to upgrade too but you must make sure that your motherboard will support it. If you could tell us what kind of mb you have we could possibly suggest something that will work for it. Btw I have two spoiled brats too!
