kind of odd mouse problem

I have a Compaq MO42KC mouse, nothing fancy, just a regular old mouse, for the past year or so it has worked flawlessly. Recently it has started to have a mind of its own, it scrolls up and down the pages clicks randomly and even zooms certain features in or out, i dont have another mouse to swap out so i was wondering if this could be a software related issue, and if so what. Thanks for your assistance.

Test the mouse on another computer to see if it's faulty.

Is it USB or PS2? Have you tried another port?
