Mouse problem
I recently received a new mouse as a hand-me-down gift and I'm encountering some strange problems with it and need to know if it's hardware or software related; the problem is that my ability to click anything is quite erratic - on booting up, I can't click any screen names to log into windows, I have to tab and enter. On the desktop, I can right-click to bring up menu's and click icons but... if I open a program such as a game, and click anything, or anywhere the program minimizes to the taskbar. I can't click anything on the taskbar, icons don't even highlight when the mouse is held over it. If I open a window (such as my computer) the window acts as if I've clicked past it i.e. I can't access anything in a window with tab.
To resolve the situation I either have to: 1. Wait an indeterminate amount of time for the mouse buttons to become accessible (anywhere from within 5 minutes to...I've waited half an hour and still can't use it). 2. Open a program with the mouse, click it and watch it minimize, then alt+ctrl+dlt and shut down the program, which seems to make the mouse work again. I should point out that once it starts working, it doesn't break or stop working again. Help! |

Re: Mouse problem
Erm, it's a generic Sony mouse. I don't have access to another mouse at the minute to test it out, and I'd rather not have to go out and buy a new one if the problem is software related and fixable.
