Heating Question

Hey guys,

I have a home server under my bed ;) that i leave on 24/7.

Is there an overheating issue? its one of those flat ones, that lay on the ground.

Compaq Evo D500 Desktop PC

Should I insert something underneath? if so, what?

cardboard, foam, etc?

thanks!

Re: Heating Question

You can use a program to check on the temperatures, such as SpeedFan. As long as there aren't any obvious problems with the machine, and it's free of dust, then you should be okay.

Re: Heating Question

It's fine as is. Desktops don't usually have fan exhausts underneath them, so it's okay if it's on carpet. Laptops are ones that suffer from not being on hard flat surfaces

Re: Heating Question

I would suggest checking it every month or so for dust.
Under a bed on carpet would is a good candidate for dust buildup.
