Dell Monitor Help

I have been having some trouble with my Dell Monitor.

Basically I am using it as a second external monitor off of my Dell Precision M65 Latptop. I have tried using both DVI and VGA cables, but both times the screen comes up for about a millisecond then turns black, but stays on and the power light stays green.

I have already tried updating video card drivers as well as reinstalling the stuff given on the CD with the monitor.

Any help would be awesome.

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz
3.25 GB of RAM
NVIDIA Quadro FX 350M

Re: Dell Monitor Help

O.K. first of all do you know if you are currently using Windows to adjust your graphics settings or is it maybe a piece of Intel software being used to control graphics?

Re: Dell Monitor Help

Lets start with the most simple first please check carefully through the NVIDIA control panel to make sure you do not have a setting that is causing 2nd monitor issue.

Re: Dell Monitor Help

Yes, I checked the settings. I have worked with NVIDIA control panel a lot, and in fact I have another laptop set up the exact same way except the external monitor is a Samsung Syncmaster.

Re: Dell Monitor Help

Please right click My Computer and select manage now select device manager click on the view tab and select show hidden devices.

Check for yellow exclamation marks indicating a device is not working, click the + sign next to display adapter and make sure both adapters are not only enabled but check for latest drivers as well.

Re: Dell Monitor Help

Please try another monitor to rule out the monitor itself as the issue or you can try that same monitor on another computer.
