Monitor killing Computer

Ok so my sister is having a problem keeping a monitor. She buys a new one and after about a week or so the monitor does not show any image, does not turn off once on, and does not work on other computers.

I need to now if its the computer or she just have really bad luck with monitors.

She uses and HP Pavilion Elite m9500y. Currently equipped with a LG Flattron Monitor
Specs:
-OS Vista home premium
-AMD Phenom™ X4 2.4GHz
-System Memory (RAM) 8GB
-Hard Drive Serial ATA (7200 rpm) 750GB
-NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GS
+she can use HDMI DVI-D and VGA (im thinking she needs to use something other than VGA).

Help would be appreciated.

Re: Monitor killing Computer

Look to me like you are really underpowered. You need at lest a 450 or 500 watt power supply in there to bring it up to snuff.
