My Pc won't read any disks!
Hello, i have an issue. My PC will not read any disks! I have done the "uninstall the driver and then restart" the PC picks up the CD drive again but it still doesn't solve the problem. I then tried to use a different CD-ROM drive all together, but still, the Drive opens fine, the CD spins fine but still, doesn't read it. I then did it with a third CD-Drive but it was the same as the 2 other ones.
Has anyone got an idea to how i can solve this problem? Pc: Dell Dimension 4600 Current DVD-ROM Drive : SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-616 |

Re: My Pc won't read any disks!
Hi, welcome to TSF
Go to Start > Run > regedit and remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values from this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Class \ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Reboot to complete. Have you tried a new IDE data cable? If your current cable is a 40 wire, replace with an 80 wire. Is it on its own IDE channel as master, or on the hard drive cable as slave?
