Acer X233H Monitor and Windows 7

Got a new monitor and it's pretty good for the price. However, it seems to cause computer lockups when on a while. The screen flashes and then locks up. The HD lights still work but nothing I do makes a difference.....I have to hard reboot.
It appears to work ok in XP and only do this in Vista and W7 (I tri-boot). I got the only driver I could find and it appears to allow less of these occurrences but still after about 30 minutes or so, it happens. Seems to happen more when using Windows Media Center or watching a video.
At this point I don't know if it's the monitor or not and my have to return it. Any ideas?

Re: Acer X233H Monitor and Windows 7

I doubt the monitor is the problem or you would be experiencing the problem in all three OS's. My first suspicion would be your graphics card drivers or the graphics card itself.

Re: Acer X233H Monitor and Windows 7

Previous drivers didn't work so I updated to the very latest. 2 other monitors work just fine so while my first thoughts were the drivers, I no longer believe that.
The fact that it works in XP but not in Vista or especially in W7 makes me wonder it's the monitor driver. The box says it's Vista compatible but what's so different about those OS's that it wouldn't work?

Thanks for your reply.
