Monitor issues
Hello, I thought this would be a good place to ask for help.
I'm having some problems with my monitor, it's been happening for a short while now. Basically, whenever I play games, the display is quite poor. For a start, if a game is running at less than 1024x768, the display will basically show the game, but jagged lines appear all over, coming then disappearing, making the display look garbled. This problem also happens when I set the refresh rate to more than 60HZ. This never happened before, as I could have a refresh rate of 75HZ at one point. Now, if the display of the game is 1024x768 or above, or 1280x960 for example (My current resolution) the problem won't occur. But if a something moves on the screen too quickly, a single line appears, and stays there until whatever it is that is moving quickly stops. The line is usually the color of whatever used to be there before it appeared. It's a pain and has stopped me from playing any game because it just annoys me too much. It suddenly started happening at one point, and I have no idea what caused it. At first, the shaky lines appeared on whatever I was doing on the PC at the time, whether it be looking on the internet or just the desktop, it only stopped when I lowered the refresh rate. The cables that connect to my monitor are pushed in correctly, my drivers are up to date, and so are my graphics card drivers. But I doubt it has anything to do with the graphics card, anyway. |

Re: Monitor issues
Sounds more like a graphics problem. Trying the monitor on another PC would be a quick test. What type(CRT-LCD), brand & model is the monitor?
Some PC specs would be helpful. Pre-Built; Brand and Model number Custom Built; Brand and Model of Mobo-CPU-RAM=Graphics-PSU.

Re: Monitor issues
The monitor is an LCD one that came with my PC, an Acer Aspire T180.
Some specs are: Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition. Processor: AMD Sempron 3200+ 1.8GHz Memory: 1280MB RAM Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405 Well... I connected the monitor to my sister's laptop, and tried playing a game. The display was absolutely fine. So yeah... I'm guessing something is wrong with my computer. |

Re: Monitor issues
I'm posting a little late, but I've got a video:
YouTube - Weird Monitor Problem It's not very noticeable, but more so on the edges of the monitor. The monitor was set at 1280x960 and 75HZ. Sorry about the bad quality, I had to move in close because it was basically impossible to see the problem unless I didn't. Another thing, it turns out it's not a fault with the graphics card, but actually with the monitor itself. Using my sister's laptop connect to the monitor (again), I tried different games, and the problem was still there, just not as bad. I've basically had enough, if the problem is unsolvable, I'll either have to get someone to repair it, or buy a new monitor altogether. |
