Keyboard unresponsiveness when typing double letters
Hi,
I recently bought a new laptop, and while it seemed to work perfectly the first few times I used it, a slight problem has been cropping up now that I've used it for more intensive typing. In short, whenever I type double letters (or other keys, i.e. the backspace key and the space bar--probably the most annoying two, in fact), it only registers the first keystroke. If I type away at a single letter, it only registers a letter every so often. While it's not a long enough delay that I can actually count the response time, it's still long enough that I can actually "out type" my keyboard. If you're confused by what I mean, when I attempt to type--for example--"tool," (or the "attempt" earlier in this sentence!) I end up with "tol." Ditto for... "ditto," and any other word with consecutive double letters. Depending on the word (and thus my muscle memory of typing it), the same letter even when seperated by a couple other letters can still fail to appear, such as the word "delete." However, the worst problem lies with the space and backspace/delete keys. When typing short words (2-4 letters), the space at the end of the short word often fails to register; when deleting words, I often backspace like I'm used to, and then realize that only a fraction of my backspaces registered. If this is a hardware issue, the laptop is still under warranty and all; I'm just not sure if it's an easy fix. I've looked under the "Keyboard" section of the Control Panel, and the issue is NOT affected by the repeat customization (due to the fact that there are two seperate keystrokes; I'm not attempting to do a two-letter hold&repeat). If anyone can help me, I'd be very thankful. Thanks in advance! |

Re: Keyboard unresponsiveness when typing double letters
Unless the manufacturer can offer you a fix for the problem, which I highly doubt, I would definitely start the warranty process.
