It's a mouse thing..... [Help Please][£]
Right, I'm having some major trouble with my mouse, let me give you a little background,
I have 2 USB ports at the front bottom, After alot of nudging and etc there now broken, My mouse was in one of these ports, anyway, I attempted to use the mouse in one of my several back USB ports and it didn't work. Fair enough... It's been through alot of wear and tear, So I buy a new mouse... I take it home and I plug it in, It says, "USB plug and play" "Found new Hardware" "BRANDNAME MOUSE is now installed and ready to use" But it dosn't work... It says it's installed etc, But it's not working, the lights are on on the mouse, but nothings happening on the computer, It works breifly for around 5 seconds during the "Found new hardware" process where i can move it around, but when it's said it's installed, it then stops working, then if you take it out and try it again, becuase the USB already recognises the mouse, it dosnt need to go through the whole shitty process, and just goes to not working at all, So I try it with another port and it just does the same all over again. It's driving me crazy, I'm using a crappy rollerball mouse in Port PS/2 (green port) and I really can't use it because its years old... ( you know how they get ) It's not the mouses, I have 2 bran new mouses less than a week old I've bought that don't work. Also in Control Pannel > Mouse > Hardware... the mouse isn't in the list. I know I've ended up writing a bludy essay up there but if anyone can help I will offer a cash service reward via paypal. |

check pnp usb2 or highspeed usb is enabled in the bios have you installed the mouse software or just using windows generic software

Re: It's a mouse thing..... [Help Please][£]
just to be sure, this is a desktop your using correct? (some older laptops do have the ps/2 port for a mouse and keyboard)
but you are correct in that the mouse should be listed under pointing devices and not under HID's. If this is not a wireless mouse, and it is a wired USB then unhook the mouse from the computer (USB and PS/2), i would uninstall the mouse thats under pointing devices, also uninstall the mouse under HID's, look at the HID-compliant device also, if it says anything about a mouse, uninstall it. restart your computer, then when its in windows, plug the USB mouse in and see what happens. |

Re: It's a mouse thing..... [Help Please][£]
It's wired optical mouse. PCLINE, Certified for windows Vista ( although I use XP ) but it says it works with 98/ME/XP/etc... It's not wireless so theres no reset button,
The rest of my hardware (webcam/keyboard/wireless/ex hdd) etc are working so it's not the USB's. My mouse is actually lit up. Like the red glow on the scroller and laser (bottom) It's just none responsive after the hardware ready and installed process. I have TeamViewer if that helps (remote desktop connection support program). that would be so much easyiier. |

Re: It's a mouse thing..... [Help Please][£]
Ok, I tried this, I've found out the HID compliant device installs with the USB optical mouse...(install the usb mouse and the hid compliant device installs to) so i uninstalled them, then uninstalled the ps/2 mouse and restarted ( took ps/2 mouse out on restart) Again, My mouse is lit up, but it's none responsive...
Want to take a look on Teamviewer? May be able to get a better feel for whats going on? |
