Oldschool meets the new world
I have a Packard Bell Multimedia E153 and I am trying to put a Belkin F5D5000 wired NIC card in. The problem is that the card is not detected so that means that in Device Manager there is absolutely no card registering as a network adapter. I am accepting solutions to this issue while already having asked other sources for assistance.

Re: Oldschool meets the new world
The BIOS is from 1996 so it therefore does not have a show feature for PCI. I tried all three PCI slots and I plan to try the third one again a bit later.
Just a bit of info about me: I only post issues that I can't fix and I can assure you I can fix many problems. These problems are not for the faint of heart since they might never be solvable. Last edited by zerofire; 07-20-2009 at 11:18 AM. |

Re: Oldschool meets the new world
I have no doubts to your abilities but I have to ask the obvious.
Are you certain the PCI card is good? Are you certain the Mobo PCI slots are operable?

A identical card from the same purchase order was successfully installed in another unit but I can not guarantee the operability of a different PC with another identical card. Nobody can. I also can not guarantee that a PC that is 13 years old will have functioning slots that have never been used. Last edited by zerofire; 07-20-2009 at 09:16 PM. |

Re: Oldschool meets the new world
I did a test of the NIC in another PC and it works normally. I also checked the ISA modem and sound card registration in Device Manager and both are missing so it seams that the whole bus is not being activated.

Re: Oldschool meets the new world
Looks like the sound card and modem slipped out of their slots and ended up disconnecting. I corrected that. NIC card still is not being detected even after connection check.
