Need help with using hd tv as second monitor [IMPORTANT]
hi guys, I have a XFX GTX 260 core 216, and I am going to buy a big hd tv to use as a second monitor, for high res gaming and movies etc. however, i need to know several things. first, does my graphics card have hdmi? if so, will this carry audio seeing as it is going through my graphics card? how much work will it take to configure it? I will be using a samsung T200 as the other monitor, which will be connected to the GPU via DVI, and I want this as my primary monitor, then to extend the desktop over to the tv =) i'm hoping its just a plug and play job, but if not then its best to get prepared eh?
tnx a lot in advance =) |

Re: Need help with using hd tv as second monitor [IMPORTANT]
I have my 37" Toshiba LCD TV (only 720p) connected to my htpc via dvi to hdmi cable (6ft off newegg for less than $10). I'm pretty sure your video card does not have an hdmi slot. so you too will need to buy a dvi to hdmi cable or adapter. buy one off newegg for less than $10. if not you will pay $40+ at any retail store i guarantee. dvi to hdmi does not carry sound however. i bought a seperate audio cable aswell. that should be all you need. trust me, there is nothing like playing crysis on the big screen compared to a little 22" monitor.
On another note, i also purchased a wireless keyboard and wireless logitech mx1100 mouse for smooth wireless gaming. Instead of gaming at my old computer desk, I now do it from my recliner in the living room! I'll never go back to a little monitor. |
