Strange Problem
Hi.
I'm new to this Forums and was taken here through searching for answers regarding a problem I got. It's about my PC. At first it started with playing some online games, the screen sometimes freezes and unfreezes around every 10 seconds. That's for some 3D Online Games that doesn't require much. Now when it's 3D Games that require a bit higher specs then the graphics are broken as you can see the wireframe of some structures and characters. When I restarted my PC it displays some broken monitor displays along with the usual PC specs like how much RAM etc. So I thought the problem was on my Video Card so I bought a new one a while ago. After attaching it and installing it, all seems well, the games started working again but when I tried playing the first game I mentioned that has low requirements, the PC slowed down to a crawl that the graphics displayed on the monitor seems to have stopped at times. So I restarted my PC and then the problem re-appeared again but this time the PC just freezes after the first screen is shown. I tried another monitor and it's still the same. Can anyone identify what the problem might be? I'm thinking it might be my HDD. I've attached 2 images of what it looks like (Sorry if the images are dark but You can make up the screen display). |

Re: Strange Problem
Hello Problematics
,Welcome to TSF! The screen shots, to me, look like an addressing issue, however I, or anyone, that is going to help will need more information: Motherboard, Video Card, Audio Card, Ram, CPU, etc, etc.In order to properly run through the "stages" we will need all pertinent info. From your pictures and what you have typed, it looks like your Southbridge Chipset is not getting along with your Video Card; IMO . Try getting the latest Motherboard Drivers, also Check for a BIOS flash and finally get the latest Video Card Drivers...If it is still not working after that, we will still need your system specs...

Processor is Intel Pentium 4 3.2Ghz Video Card is only Inno3D GeForce FX 550 1GB RAM Audio Card is just the Generic type. Running Windows XP I've been with the setup for years now (I think 2 or 3) and only got this problem now. My old Video Card was GeForce FX 5200. I can't get pass the screen I showed in the screenshots because after that the PC seems to have just stopped working (The red LED in front of the case lights up for a period of time then turns off and only the lights that indicate that the PC is open is shown). it doesnt boot windows up anymore. :( |

Re: Strange Problem
Update:
I tried using my old Video Card and it shows the screen as the picture I attached in this post. It still looks all broken but after a few pushes of reset it slowly able to boot up (In safe mode only since it wont boot up in normal mode). So that PC seems to still be broken now I'm wondering if it's my HDD or my Motherboard that is broken and needs to be replaced. Using System Informations for Windows it says my Motherboard is Model - 848P-A7 CPU - Intel Pentium 4 HT CPU Socket - Socket 478/LGA775 |
