[SOLVED] Monitor blinks when starting windows.

Hi I wasn't sure where to post this topic but I think I'm in the right place.

My monitor is a syncmaster 2232bw LCD. Only about a year old. Recently I reinstalled windows vista 32bit (clean boot) I've done this before. After the reinstall everything works great no problems at all. I shut down the computer and turn it on and everything is fine, I restart and everything is fine. If I shut down and leave it off for a period of 2+ hours or more then start it up again, my monitor blinks and continues to blink until it reaches the login screen, where it abruptly stops. After that it still works great. Runs on HD 1680x1050, games fine.

So basically, why is it blinking when I turn the computer back on after a 2+ hour rest? Should I try a clean reinstall vista32bit again or is there something else I can do/check?

I doubt that the OS is causing the problem. I would try a Recovery (with the Vista disc) before I did a reinstall.
Not knowing your PC's specs, I would suggest reinstalling the latest Graphics drivers.

Thanks for the tip, it worked. Strange thing is though that I updated my Radeon HD 4870 with the suite package (ccc-driver..ect all that stuff) and it kept blinking, then I just downloaded the driver itself and updated and it fixed it. Really weird.

Re: [SOLVED] Monitor blinks when starting windows.

To use the whole CCC package, and not just the driver, you need to have Microsoft .NET Framework installed first. If you already have it, maybe it's corrupt or needs to be updated.

The installation instructions PDF says:
Quote:
Caution: The Catalyst Control Center requires that the Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 be installed. Without .NET version 2.0 installed, the Catalyst Control Center will not launch properly and the user will see an error message.
