impression 7lsp lcd monitor

I recently aquired a used Impression brand lcd monitor model 7lsp 19 inch screen. When first connected and plugged in it works perfectly for a few hours then shuts off. I can power on a get screen up for a minute or 2 before it shuts of again. I've checed wiring and capacitors and everything looks fine. the power pack does get extremely hot though. My question is Is it the power pack or the backlight and without a replacement for either is there any trick to diagnose?

Sounds like the power supply is failing. Backlights usually work or don't work.
