Microsoft Lifecam / USB Camera Help?
Hello, I recently did a install of Vista Home Premium to my Windows XP, my Windows XP was very out of date and a late 2002 model it was a pain haveing to update the drivers and transfering files from another computer to it but eventually I got it all sorted out..after updateing my network driver and sound. Everything is running smooth now except I still get 1 yellow ! marks in device manger under USB Camera. I used to use a ''HP Webcam'' i see no other info on the box other than that..but the cam eventually just stopped working..not a great quality cam anyways, i recently updated to a Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 about 2 or 3 months ago and it is a much better webcam..But now after installing Vista it won't work. I have Installed the Lifecam 1.4 software directly from the disc to my computer it all installed fine and told me my Lifecam was ready to use but when I go to take a picture or something it says my cam is not plugged in...I have done restart after restart plugging it in and out and still nothing...uninstalled and reinstalled the program multiple times and still it isn't working..I also have this program called ''Driver Genius Professional Edition'' not sure if its any good or not but it told me to download a update for my Lifecam and I did and still nothing...I even put in my old webcams disc hopeing if I installed it it would then work but still no luck..I noticed when I explored the contents of the old webcams software it had a thing to install drivers it was called '' CIF USB Camera'' or something similar to that I installed it and still no luck..I am pretty experienced with computers but am not that familar with drivers...So is there any solutions or anything I can do to get the Microsoft Lifecam to working without haveing to buy a new webcam? I can give any system info if needed. I would really appreciate it I use it quite alot..Thanks in advance.

Re: Microsoft Lifecam / USB Camera Help?
That would be one of the reasons people hate Vista, older hardware dont work with Vista, one thing you can try is go download the drivers from the webcams website. Vista drivers is what you need. I had the same issue my old cams did not work with vista, I bought a Logitech Pro 9000 (the best camera you can get) :)

Re: Microsoft Lifecam / USB Camera Help?
I went to microsoft's site here: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/do...x?category=ICE
and selected all of the correct info and my operating system and they gave me a download for ''Microsoft LifeCam 2.07''..i installed it fine and everything but when i plug it in it gives me '' Windows needs to install driver software for your USB camera'' and gives me the locate and install option and ask again later or don't show this message again..i really don't know what else I can do, I have tryed everything. |

Re: Microsoft Lifecam / USB Camera Help?
Ah, I see im not sure if I could return it since ive used it about 2 or 3 months on my old XP system but I can look into buying one soon do you know any good suggestions for a good logitech cam for around 50/60 dollars and could install easy and get the updates I need without any trouble on a Vista Home Premium 32-bit? or if anyone knows a way I can fix my current Lifecam VX-3000 that would help too but I really doubt their is anyway I have tryed everything.
