[SOLVED] F8 key will not work to access Advanced Options Menu

I recently installed a Logitech EX100 cordless mouse and keyboard for my XP Pro desktop. The keyboard and mouse seemed to work fine until I wanted to boot into safe mode for a virus scan. I have tried tapping the F8 key repeatedly and holding it down several times. Neither method worked. The machine continued on and booted up normally. I hooked up my old keyboard and tapping the F8 key worked like it should.

Thinking I has a bad key I took the keyboard back and exchanged it. Same problem.

I would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Is it a usb keyboard? . . many systems will not recognize usb keyboards until the operating system is loaded.

Some BIOS have a option to "Enable Legacy USB" that might help

Thanks for the response. It is a USB keyboard. My BIOS does not have the option you mention, so I am keeping the old PS2 keyboard in case I need to boot into safe mode.

highspeed usb or usb 2
