My computer was not recognising the dvd/cd drives and it would not recognise any disks.
From searching help sites i found someone with a very similar problem, they had been told to, 'Copy the code below. Open Notepad and paste it in. Save the result in a suitable location as drives.reg - making sure that the default .txt extension doesn't appear in the file name (Save as type = All Files). Double-click on the saved .reg file to merge the contents. Restart'. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}] "UpperFilters"=- "LowerFilters"=- [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdr4_2K] [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdralw2k] [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdudf] [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UdfReadr] I did this and it solved the problem of my drives, but now, when i go to type, it brings up shortcuts instead of letters, for example; When i try to type the letter 'd' it brings up add a favourite. Only certain keys link to a shortcut, some of the keys do not register at all. However, it is not just the normal keyboard, it happens when i use the on-screen keyboard, therefore it is obviously not a fault with the keyboard. I would really appreciate your help in this matter.
