Help W/ Pioneer Dvd/rom-dvd 117r

Hey there

I have a Sony PCV-RX660
Mobo: Asus P4B266LM
CPU:Intel P4 1.8 Ghz
Memory: 1Gb PC2100 DDR
Vid Card: Evga GeForce 6200 256 Mb
Hard Drive: 80Gb Ultra/ATA 100

I recently installed the geforce 6200. Since then my dvd/rom drive(pioneer dvd/rom-dvd 117r) stopped working. It acts like it's going read a disc and then nothing happens. I've tried different discs with the same results.

It does not show up on My Computer or in the Device Manager. Is it something with the video card or the drivers? Any kind of help would be great.

Thanks

Re: Help W/ Pioneer Dvd/rom-dvd 117r

Sounds like you loosened up a cable when you installed video card.
Check connection on motherboard, where the ide cable for the drive
is inserted, check the cable on the cd/dvd drive, make sure its
firmly inserted. Check power molex going into the drive....

Re: Help W/ Pioneer Dvd/rom-dvd 117r

Sorry about the delay. The connections were the first thing I checked. Everything semms to be in order. My dvd/rom will start like it is going to read, then nothing happens. Occasionally it will read. But most of the time it tells me no cd/rom found. I've tried going to pioneer to get the latest frimware but the dvd/rom dvd 117r is not listed. Any other solutions would be great. Thanks.

Sounds a lot like a failing drive.

Re: Help W/ Pioneer Dvd/rom-dvd 117r

It is listed in the bios. But after windows finishes booting, the dvd drive cannot be found and it won't read anything. I have to go into add new hardware, then the computer finds it, and it works fine until I restart.

Re: Help W/ Pioneer Dvd/rom-dvd 117r

I'm not getting any cmos errors. Do you think the problem might be a corrupted registry.
