Ipod Nano Chromatic problem-- please help!

Ugh... Ok, first off, I got my Ipod around the end of february/09 I'm pretty sure.

It's always been working good, and perfectly, never had anything wrong with it, but then, a couple weeks ago, it screwed up.

I can play music, watch videos on it and do anything.
But I can't plug it into the computer!!!
What I mean by this, is:

-I plug it into the right driver
-The little driver icon on the taskbar or whatever it's called doesn't show up
-Nothing happens.
-All that really happens is my battery goes down for me trying too hard to get it to work right.

Everything else that I/We plug into the computer works properly.
My mom's Ipod Nano, My brother's Mp3, and all the USB memory sticks.
Please help!

try to put it into restore mode. and make sure itunes is open to see if you can just restore it.. also try and google your problem to see if anyone else has had the same problem.
