BSOD, game crashes, New components
I have been having a long stand issue with my custom built PC. It is about a year and a half old and is no longer under any warranties
The issues are random BSODs that are listed anywhere from Page_default_IN_NONPAGED_AREA IRQL_SOMEThHING OR OTHER other BSOD driver/file errors include win32k dxgkrnl.sys The BSOD and game crashes occurr randomly and with any game that will decently challenge the GPU. I have even had BSOD's just from internet searching I have searched far and wide for solutions. Here is what I have done so far to attempt to fix the issue. 1. Replace the Motherboard 2. Replace all the memory 3. Relocate RAM to other slots 4. Clean out any dust from EVERYTHING 5. Installed fresh Windows Vista 32bit 6. Updated all drivers for EVERYTHING(trust me =) ) 7. Rolled back certain drivers like the video card driver just to see 8. Disabled onboard sound from BIOS 9. Updated BIOS 10. Checked GPU/CPU/CASE temperatures and everything is normal - although I had to unlock my Video cards fan speed in order to reduce heat 11. I have two identical video cards for SLI use and tested both out separately 12. installed all updates to Vista including the newly released SP2 13. adjusted memory timing and voltages for all components 14. Replaced PSU with Corsair 650TX I recently found another forum with someone having some problems with their computer and they were told to replace the PSU. But this is not the case since I am still getting the same errors and problems I have already replaced some parts and this time I would like to make sure of the problem before I go and purchase MORE things. The only components I have not replaced are the video cards -- Right now I am only using one video card the nvidia 8800 GT but I have used SLI so I have tried using both cards separately to see if one was buggy, but its possible both are problems. The other component i have not replaced is the CPU. Not sure what else to do or even how to diagnose the situation, questions comments and solutions are welcome. Computer Setup CPU:AMD 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6400+ RAM: 4GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 Video: XFX Geforce 8800 GT OC Motherboard: Asus M4N82 Deluxe Harddrive: Raptor 10,000 RPM |

Hello
I take it that you have checked first if:

Re: BSOD, game crashes, New components
I have checked all of those. I have been getting a lot of BSOD that have a problem with win32k.sys does this lead to anything?
My ideas left are a CPU overheating so I need to get some thermal paste or I have a bad video card. I have noticed a few times when the computer does crash that it stays on the bios screen for a LONG time before advancing to loading the OS. Not sure if this means anything or not but any help is appreciated |

Re: BSOD, game crashes, New components
The power supply is
Corsair 650TX 650Watts im now leaning toward CPU temperature problems, I have been monitoring it and im idling at 57C and just opening up a game is its up to 68C and then beyond from there, so Im going to invest in some fresh thermal paste and a possible new heatsink. This is a high temp isn't it? |

Re: BSOD, game crashes, New components
anyone have any pictures of how much paste should go on it? I am usually pretty good with it but I was just curious if anyone considers themself an artist with the paste =)
