mouse or computer becomes unresponsive
So the past couple of days my computer has been acting up. I'll be doing my usual tasks, surfing the web, checking email, etc and I'll move to mouse to click on something like a different program or start menu and the click is basically unresponsive. The mouse still moves and the programs i have running are still running and updating(like I will see messages in irc chat but can click the windows to make it active). I figured this was a software issure, so I dual booted with a fresh install of vista(other is media center 2005) and its doing the same thing. I now think its a hardware problem. I figured someone way have dropped my wireless mouse and it broke so I tried using a different mouse and had the same issues. Anyone know what the issue is?
The problem is intermittent. Opening up task manager seems to bring back full responsiveness. CPU is not above 40% With this last time my mouse was fully responsive on the desktop, I could click icons, drag boxes around them and etc. but i could not use the taskbar or any programs i had open. This has made me quite confused as to what the problem could be Last edited by paintballkev812; 06-09-2009 at 11:03 PM. |

Re: mouse or computer becomes unresponsive
Xion are not quality units your 12v line is down enough to cause problems
your temps are to high see if you can borrow something like this to try in it http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...corsair%2b550w

Re: mouse or computer becomes unresponsive
I'll look to into fixing those problems, any suggestions on cooling down my system, I already have a 120mm fan in front and back, and a 80mm on the side blowing on the cpu cooler.
Also, could you explain how hitting ctrl+alt+delete fixes the problem? Like on vista if it starts being unresponsive, I'll hit ctrl+alt+delete and it'll bring up the little vista menu and when i hit cancel everything works fine |

Re: mouse or computer becomes unresponsive
no i cannot if you were going further in and canceling running applications or programs
then i would say one of them was causing it swapping out the psu will bring temps down if the current one is struggling to keep up

Re: mouse or computer becomes unresponsive
the only thing i can think of is something is running in the background and it is finishing in that time frame or c/a/del is ending it

Re: mouse or computer becomes unresponsive
I dont think its a program, it was doing it on both xp and vista. Vista still is a fresh install, no programs installed. Also booted off a live linux cd and i seem to be having the problem also
