I recently got an EMC Clariion FC 5301 file server from a friend, and i'm trying to get it to work. Can anyone tell me how to set up the hardware and software or point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Fist, you need to know that this storage is very old and nobody give you support. If you think put it in production with some critical application, you need to know this.

This storage is connected throw cooper cable not fiber cable . You need a copper HBA like emulex LP9000 series o similar. Today this HBA is very complicated to get it.

You need also, navisphere manager, naviphere agent, ATF or Powerpath. This is part of navisphere suite.

The naviphere manager that you need i think is ver 5.3 (lastest por this model) , this version is of-array, this mean that the manager run in the server, for this model is not possible run it into the storage. In the next model (FC4700) is posible run navisphere manager into de storage.

In powerlink, you can download the pdf called Navisphere manager administrators´s guide, here explain how configure the agent and the manager.
