[SOLVED] Advice on choosing a KVM please

Hi,

I need some help please in choosing a KVM.

I have just bought a new pc just for video editing and want to run it alongside my old (but still decent) pc. I realise I need a KVM but don't think I need anything too elaborate as I'm working with 3 monitors but I don't think I need monitor switching.

My setup is as follows: My old pc is running XP Home 32bit and my new pc is running Vista Business 64 bit. I have 3 monitors (let's just call them 1, 2 & 3 for the purposes of this explanation).

I have really got used to having twin monitors so my old pc is feeding DVI to monitor 1 but when a new cable arrives in the next day or so I also want to feed VGA to monitor 2. The new pc is feeding DVI to monitors 2 & 3. The monitors are all the same and have input selection switches on the front so I am thinking that monitors 1 & 3 will remain on DVI and I can just flick between digital and analogue inputs for monitor 2 depending on which pc I want to run with dual displays. Does that make sense?

Ideally I would like to run just one pair of really good speakers (but I have a second lesser quality pair for my old pc if necessary) and I would like to share the printer and ideally the scanner between both pcs.

As KVMs are new territory for me I could do with some advice please. What is my best option to work all this from one wired USB keyboard and one wireless USB mouse without spending unnecessary cash?

Am I right in thinking I can flick monitor 2 between the two pcs - if not I could live with single monitor use for the old pc if it means saving loads of money.

Thanks in anticipation of some really good advice.
