PS2/USB Keyboard & Mouse not working!

Hello all - I am at my wit's end with this! I have a custom built pc running XP Pro and suddenly the keyboard and mouse stopped working. I've tried replacing them (one at a time and both together) and I've tried using USB mice/keyboards and nothing will work. I've tried all the USB ports, front and back to no avail. So I am completely stuck - I can't get into the BIOS or anything. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi, welcome to TSF

Use a PS2-USB adapter, then plug the keyboard into the PS2 port instead of USB. This should allow you to enter BIOS and check the USB settings.

Hi and thanks for responding :)

That didn't work either, I'm afraid. Any other ideas?

So even with the keyboard plugged into the PS2 port, it's still not working? Do the CapsLock and NumLock LEDs light up when you switch on? Test the keyboard and mouse on another computer.

Re: PS2/USB Keyboard & Mouse not working!

Yes, that's correct. Neither the PS/2 or the USB keyboards or mice work. I get no lights on the keyboard (or mouse) in any port. And I've tried all the USB ports, front and back and 3 different keyboards. I am completely stumped!
