monitor problems.

this is my first time visting this site so i'm sorry if this thread is misplaced

a few days ago while listening to music on my computer i noticed my monitor suddenly went black. i was sat on my bed away from it at the time so i was kinda confused

i went over to it thinking a cable was disconected untill i noticed the light was stil green on the monitor. so i dont belive the problem was the power cable.

i checked to see if it was properly connected to the graphics card again no probs there, plus im a total noob at computers but shouldnt a error message or something come up if it was the card?

but anyway i updated my graphics card to a gforc 7600 yesterday although i'm still having the same problem.

ive noticed the longer i leave the monitor turned of or black with the light green, the logner the periods before it randomly goesb lack on me again.

also in order to get it back to normal i keep having to turn the power button on the monitor off then on again. although its going black on me randomly every 2-4 mins on me, even while i'm typing this.

has anyone encountered something similar or could give me some insight or hope? i'm not in the mood to go pay 30 pounds and get told its dust or something insignificent

thanks all who replys help me O_O

Re: monitor problems.

Hi,
Is this an LCD monitor? If so then when the monitor is black, shine a flash light (torch) on the screen. Do you see any images? If you do then it is most likely the back liight or the back light power supply that is bad. The back light is like a flourecent tube. Is it still under warranty? You could take it to a computer shop but sometimes they cost more to fix than a new one.
