Uhm, hey, I need help :P
So anyway, yesterday, I just got this pc assembled from a shop, and it has the following specs:
OS: Windows xp professional (SP2) System Manufacturer: Micro-Star INTL' (MSI) BIOS: Default System BIOS Processor: Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83GHz(4 CPUs) Memory: 3072MB RAM Directx: DirectX 9.0c Display Device: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT (1024.0MB) ------------If any more info is needed, just ask me. :D But here's the problem: When I play a game(there's only 1 though: Ragnarok Online), my pc freezes after a few mins(the screen freezes, and it doesn't change) without any error codes. It simply requires me to restart, but it sometimes does so on its own. After rebooting, the keyboard won't work, and I would need to reinstall the driver for the keyboard. Another version of this problem would be when I would have too many tabs on Firefox. And though it restarts, the keyboards would be fine. I've tried some stuff I found on the net(some related to BIOS, some about Drivers, and some about overheating video cards), but I haven't found a post with the same specs as mine, so I decided to put it here. I've also tried downloading and installing a driver from the nvidia site, but it still didn't work. I am also afraid of changing my BIOS settings without assistance. The pc is new, and I have scanned for viruses(there are none). xD I hope you guys can help me. Thanks in advance! Last edited by elguapo56; 03-29-2009 at 01:51 AM. |

Re: Uhm, hey, I need help :P
that system will run fine under a corsair 65ow PSU
use GPU-Z to check your temps and post a screenshot of the sensor tab http://www.filehippo.com/download_gpuz/ use coretemp to tell the CPU temps http://www.filehippo.com/download_gpuz/ and speedfan for the rest http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php |

Re: Uhm, hey, I need help :P
I would up the fan speed on that graphics card to around 60% or higher using rivatuner
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163 its a little hot for idle if you could open the side panel on your Computer case and take a pic of your PSU that would be very helpful |

Re: Uhm, hey, I need help :P
We actually need the CPU temps to see if it is a temperature issue as well as the mentioned power supply information. While the Graphics processor unit temp you have listed is important, the CPU temp may be culprit here.

Re: Uhm, hey, I need help :P
If it is not a heat issue or a power issue, than I would start looking at AVG and Webroot.
First try running the game with Webroot disabled. Then try it without AVG running. I know a lot of people have had great success with AVG but I have had nothing but troubles. Freezes and BSOD's are what I get. Pauldo |

I'll be trying to up the fanspeed(please teach me how to do it with rivatuner). :p
btw, o formatted my comp again, and the problem isn't with the AVG nor the Webroot. Imma see if it still freezes. Thanks!! Last edited by elguapo56; 04-01-2009 at 12:10 AM. |
