kodak easyshare W1020 (picture frame) drops wireless connection regularly...

Anyone else using this device? I have tried it on two different wifi access points.. in each case, it will run solid for awhile (or short while depending).. then the next morning ill find it back on the home black screen, if you click the pictures icon, it will say it has become disconnected from the wireless network..

i've even tried static ips, no luck..

if this thing would work in the same way via the usb cable, i'd almost run a 16 foot repeater to it.

Anyone out there found a fix for this thing?

Thanks

Re: kodak easyshare W1020 (picture frame) drops wireless connection regularly...

I've had a similar problem - It stays connected to the network..except once so far, had to reset static IP...but it keeps losing the computer on the network. What kind of router are you using? Other devices?

ROUTER
I'm using a Linksys WRT110...recently updated firmware to 1.0.5 and it's even worse now. My W1020 has no problem connecting to the internet/network/myframechannel but only has issues trying to get to computers on the network...

SOFTWARE
1) Both components of Easyshare software and Easyshare desktop manager are sub-par at best and resource hogs that renders them basically useless with large collections. You can't even empty the picture library/albums and start your collection over.

2) Unable to have Easyshare find or add music on or from mapped network drives.

3) Tries to connect to iTunes and does not successfully pull/refresh itunes info.

4) Resource Hog...did I say that already ?

So now that you know how I feel about the software let's get back to hardware. A good frame, excellent concepts, average excecution and not enough firmware/software updates or improvements....right...h/w

Need more info on your setup, range, other devices? Mine frame loses the computer after a few days or freezes up at times.

I have 1 easyshare library album with 1200 pictures in it, all sized about 150K each. Although the frame itself does great with loaded and even very large pictures...it freezes regardless when working over the network to a pc.

If anyone knows of a better wireless frame...i'd like to know...

Then at least once every week, it loses the host computer and can't find pics....eventhough the pc is up on the net just fine. Reboot the PC, restart the device a few times and usually it works. Recently it lost it's fixed IP and I had to set it all back up (FUN!) and then it connected...I'm getting ready to try that again cause it ain't showin connecting.

Maybe I'll try another machine or 2nd re-install of the sw.
