HDTV Slide Show?????
Using Nero 6, I have just completed the task of converting all my digital photos into a menued DVD slide show. Looking at the pictures on my Hitachi 53-inch HDTV-ready screen, I am very pleased with the results. I considered the VCD and Super VCD formats not worth the effort. Although the pictures are not nearly as sharp as when viewed on the computer screen they are OK as long as one keeps the proper viewing distance. Nero doesn’t say, but I assume the picture format to be mpeg-2.
Looking to the future, it would be great if a project like this could result in digital pictures which would take full advantage of the HDTV capability. Does anyone have any information on this subject, or can you point me to some references. I can’t seem to find anything on Google. Thank you. Stu Culp |

I have a Roku HD1000 Media Interface. It will convert jpeg images for viewing on HDTV in either 720p or 1080i format. Pictures can be input via flash cards or ethernet connection. I have a wi-fi home network and use a linksys bridge connected to the Roku HD1000. In this way, I can view any pictures stored on my computer in the study on my HDTV in a separate room. The Roku HD1000 goes for about $250-299. Linksys and Netgear and some other companies also have wi-fi units for putting pictures on your tv, but they do not output the high-def formats. It is a very cool experience to sit and watch any digital picture on your computer on your HDTV.
I had previously made DVDs but the quality is not as good as the high-def output from the Roku. Last edited by ebough; 02-01-2005 at 07:14 PM. |
