Monitor stopped working
Hey folks.
I'm hoping someone knowledgable about monitors can help me figure out why my monitor just upped and stopped working. I returned to my computer (which was on) to find my monitor screen blank, only instead of the usual amber light to indicate it has shut off the light is blinking green. I've had this monitor for 6 years and I've only ever seen the light solid green or solid amber. Anyway, having just reinstalled win98 and my video drivers only yesterday I figured some sort of power saving option had accidentally been activated. But when I restarted my computer the light remained a blinking green and still no picture. I have since tried changing power cords, plugging it into different outlets, etc. but every time i just get this blinking green light and nothing on the screen. Up until today it was working perfectly. Any ideas what caused this? By the way the model is Futura L7301LD if that helps. And yes, I checked the manual. It didn't mention a green flashing light or anything else helpful. It didn't even have any information about who the manufacturer was or how to contact them. Very dubious... Thanks for any light you can shed. Drew |

Hi, and welcome to TSF. I take it the monitor worked up until the reboot from the 98 installation. it would seem perhaps the display settings defaulted to settings that exceed the monitor's capabilities. If you would use the F8 key to boot windows into safe mode, you should be able to get a working display, and then get into the settings to adjust to what the monitor finds useful. Hope this helps.

Re: Monitor Stopped working
Hey bats,
Thanks for the quick response. I think I confused you with extra information. The problem is with the monitor itself. The tube doesn't even powering up. (Normally the screen will give a message about no video signal if the computer isn't present.) It looks like I will have to take into a shop. Just curious if anyone has encountered anything similar. It's interesting it happened so soon after reloading my video driver. Cheers. Drew |

Unfortunate coincidence. Shop around, used CRT monitors are getting really cheap, maybe cheaper than repair. Everybody seems bent on the bigger-better-faster and the castoffs left in the wake are cheap. Some of those castoffs aren't too shabby.
