Upgrading an Old Computer

To start with, the computer I'm talking about here (which is described in my profile) is pretty old, about seven years old actually, but I'm hoping that it's not so old that these upgrades won't be compatible. On that note- with the computer being so old, is there a good chance that any of the parts that I won't be replacing will die anytime soon? The only parts I can think of that I might have trouble with are the motherboard and the processor.

Alright, so what I am primarily unsure about is compatibility of new parts with my old hardware. It (Everest) says that the name of the motherboard is "Dell Dimension 8200" (surprise) and the chipset is "Intel Tehama i850(E)". So anyway, here are the new parts I'm thinking of replacing with the old (all other parts remain the same):

HDD: Seagate Barracuda
Memory: CORSAIR
Optical Drive: Lite-On
Video Card: Sapphire

I really have no idea how to find out whether or not these things are compatible, so I'm hoping you guys can help me out here. I'll post any more details about the current configuration if you need them.

I'd also like to make sure that I have the right power supply for this, I'm not sure how much voltage I'd need for this either. I'll check what I have right now and post it later.

Thank you for all your help.

[If you noticed I posted a similar thread earlier, this is completely different talking about a different system.]

Re: Upgrading an Old Computer

There isn't a system listed in your profile.
But I doubt a 7 year old PC will take DDR2 800 Go to Crucial and either select the system or use the scanner to see what Ram you have > Corsair , Crucial , OCZ

Sata Maybe but I also doubt a PCIe slot, What motherboard is it?

Thanks, I appreciate the info but it would seem the best option now is a new computer.
