is hardware to blame for corrupted downloads?
For quite some time now I have had trouble downloading files that are much bigger than 10 mega bytes.
I have had the same DSL connection for over a year, the only thing that has changed was the computer. I added a ne wmother board with new ram and a new proccesor. Shorty after doing this I began having problems with my downloads, Also i went from windows 98 on that new machine to windows xp... thats when I 1st noticed my downloading problems. Also my internet connection slowed way down, I had 768 MB of ram. I took a stick of 256 ram out leaving the 512 ram in.. that fixxed my internet problem ... however my computer started doing random memory dumps after that. I was wondering is the 512 stick was possibly bad and bad ram sectors have been corrupting my downloads. I have downloaded from MANY different sites, and eveen auto patching for video games will corrupt. This is a major problem as i attend college online, any help would be GREATLY appreciated. By the way the 256mb ram was a sower speed than the 512.. one was pc3200 the other was pc 2800... or somehting like that |
