keyboard wont work in xp

i packed up my system to move and it worked fine. i set it up and my wireless keyboard and mouse combo only mouse works. i tried a standard usb keyboard and nothing. i get power to the keyboard but no responce.(caps light wont turn on and off) no errors in my device manager and software that came with wireless mouse and keyboard shows connection is fine and battery level is good. all other usb devices work perfectly in all ports and no bandwith errors have come up. i have uninstalled drivers for wireless setup and reinstalled with no effect. HEEELLLPPPP!!!!

Put fresh batteries in the keyboard
In device manager remove the keyboard and reboot.
press connect button on both the transmitter and keyboard

If the Keyboard is usb keyboard makesure "Legacy USB" or "USB Keyboard" is enabled on the advanced settings in your BIOS
