What sort of devices require powered USB hub?

I'm in need of a USB hub. I have several devices that I would like to connect via the hub, namely: G5 Gaming Mouse; Dongle for Microsoft wireless keyboard; Ideazon FANG gamepad; Microsoft Wired 360 Controller. I need to know if i should be able to connect 3 or 4 of these without the need for an self-powered Hub? What kind of devices draw enough power to warrant it?

Re: What sort of devices require powered USB hub?

you can daisy chain upto i think 253 devices off one USB 2.0 connection. most hubs that you can buy are powerd very few are not. i have a 1 into 8 unpowered hub and all 8 ports are in use with no problems. it's kind of if you really want to spend the money for the powered or the unpowered one. though the devices you are looking to power do not require all that much power the extra power kick does not hurt if you keep adding other USB devices on down the line.

Re: What sort of devices require powered USB hub?

Makes sense. I guess my issue really comes down to neatness and such. I don't want any extra power cords running around behind the desk if I can avoid it. Anyone know of a good "super-ultra-mini" powered hub with at least 4 ports?
