cd drive auto detect

On every computer I have had it automatically detects when I place a cd or dvd in the drive and would ask what I wanted to do, or if I had selected the option to perform a specific task every time. My current computer use to but for some reason no longer detects automatically when a cd is loaded. Under the properties autoplay tab for the specific drive I have tried to select both options of either select an action to perform and prompt me for an action but neither seems to have any effect. I must be missing a file that displays the prompt or executes the desired action. Does anyone know what I should do?

Thanks in advance,

Palguy

Still no go

Ran sfc /scannnow and still the same result with both drives.

Don't know if it will help but also whenever I put in a cd that would auto install a program "i.e. autorun.inf on disc" it does not read the autorun.inf file and begin the installation. It must be done manually.

Thanks again

Not yet

Value was 91 and I changed it to 95 as suggested in the thread you suggested and still no go.

The plot thickens, but I'm sure we will get to the end of the mystery.

Thanks Alot

I must apologize.

I did not follow the thread you suggested far enough.

After reviewing it I saw a second solution further down that suggested I change another value and that solved the problem.

Again, my apologies for not following through completely on your advice, and my thanks for your helping solve my problem.

Palguy
