Evil Computer Audio

Hi My name is christopher and i have a dell dimension 2400 ran on windows xp. All of a sudden my speakers stopped producing sound from my computer. The speakers work ive tested them out but for some reason when i got under control panel to sounds, audio devices, etc. it says that the audio hardware is working properly but there is no audio devices that are detected. I have tried to download ausio drivers and audio soundcards but nothing is working. If someone can please help me i would greatly appreciate it. you can reach me at ********. This is so frustrating. Thank you and have a Nice Day.

Re: Computer Audio

Hi Christopher, welcome to TSF

If you're using onboard sound, reinstall the chipset drivers from your motherboard CD, then reboot.

If you're using a proper sound card, switch off the computer, remove the card from the motherboard slot, blow out any dust from the slot and clean the gold fingers on the card, then reseat it.

If you're sure the correct audio driver is installed and there are no flags in Device Manager, check the volume sliders and Mute boxes in Volume Control.
