Audio Issue, Random Static

This strange staticky noise occurs occasionally. Sometimes, if music is being listened to (tried with Foobar2000, and WinAMP), if paused and then started again it will often make a static noise until paused and started once more (at which point it may happen again, and the process must be repeated until it stops). It also occurs in the game Flight Simulator X, occasionally random sounds will become static until they are stopped and started again (either they can't be, or changing the camera will do it). I know there's nothing wrong with the headphones being used or the speakers, as I have tried plugging the headphones into the slot at the front of the computer and the same issue still occurs

There is no sound card, it is "SoundMAX Integrated HD Audio". I'd really love a fix, I can't seem to find a solution anywhere else on the interwebs. It's very irritating when the engines on a plane or music makes a static crackling sound, and I have to stop/start it to fix it, as with ATC and such, the only way to stop/start it is to wait for the tower to stop speaking. There is no damage to the headphone jack or the slots, and no dirt/dust in them either. This has happened ever since the computer was first used. The motherboard is an Asus M2NPV-VM.

Re: Audio Issue, Random Static

Have you updated your audio drivers from Asus? You could possibly need a BIOS update. Try your audio update first. http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us

Thanks, updating SoundMAX drivers has cleared my problem, except for the fact that sometimes ATC still speaks in static :l

Also, any reason why my microphone won't work? The microphone's fine (tried it on another computer), I'm quite sure I've wired the microphone socket properly, the volume of it is up, it's turned on (has no switch), selected in the volume controls, and it is not muted. I've not yet found a working solution anywhere else on the interwebs

Re: Audio Issue, Random Static

Not sure about your Microphone issue, sounds like you covered the basics. Play around in your Sound and Audio devices in control panel. I would think your issue is in the settings. Double check your jacks. Best of luck.
