Press Delete to enter set up!
My friend has a Dell PC that is running windows XP. I noticed that her computer was loading very slowly at start - up. Therefore I disabled all of her start up items and was planning on restoring the important ones after the computer booted back up. I have done this on my laptop many times without anything going wrong. On starting the computer back up I came to a black screen before windows booted up. It said press delete to enter the set up. Unfortunately I could not do this as the keyboard was not working. The keyboard and mouse are attached through the old plug system, not a USB port. My guess is that disabling the start up items may have affected the keyboard/mouse from working.
I have recently attached a USB port connected keyboard and mouse with a little luck. However, when I try to restart the computer again it gets stuck on that black screen "press delete to enter the set -up". I have followed other suggestions regarding this issue. I unplugged the battery inside the PC for 15 min. After this I was able to load back into windows. I am just afraid to turn the computer off as then it will probably not load up again. It is also saying that windows cannot recognize one of the USB port devices. However, that same device is my Modem USB connection, and I do have Internet (therefore this USB connection must be recognized). Sorry for the dragged out monologue, but want to give you all the info. Please Help! Thanks |
