Grrr My Webcam is Giving Me a Big Headache!!!

Last night i was in mid use of my usb pc camera (maxcam icam item #346091) and it suddenly stopped working, the video went black and ever since, the cam is not being properly recognized by 2 of my pc that it was working normally for. when i plug in my i get some generic driver from microsoft and i have tried to reinstall the driver from the cd but that doesnt seem to help anything. i even did a system restore just incase i did something i didnt know i did, but it didnt help. My PCs are recognizing when i plug it (beeps) in but are not accepting it as a webcam or video/photo camera based on it not working with yahoo instant messenger or the video and photo impressions that came with the cam. I would like to know if there was any way someone could assist me with this, the cam is relatively new, owned it for about 6months.

Hello & Welcome to TSF

this sounds like a driver issuse

try this

now what i you need to do is go to your (device manager)

now once there you will want to select from the toolbar of the window(veiw) then a drop down menu / from it you will select (show all hidden devices)

now if you see any (red or yellow) quotation marks , make a note of what they

now scroll down to your (USB Device Tree) and uninstall all that it is shown / then shut your sysem down compleatly then unplug all (USB Devices) then rebot your system 2 to 3 times

this will cause Windows to rebuild the (USB Device Treee & Drivers)

now try hooking up your (USB Devices) and see if they work properly

Re: Grrr My Webcam is Giving Me a Big Headache!!!

i tried all that and it doesnt seem to hve fixed the problem, i still continue to get the generic "USB Camera" driver even though i have the cd's driver installed. i have also tried to bypass all the recommendations and use the driver from the cd but when i did, it made no difference in how the cam was acting.
