Problem with headset
Hi there!
I'm having some problems with my headset. When I'm on skype voicechat the person im talking with can hear themselves and any other sound i hear in the headphones, like music or sounds from games. It's the same when using voice chat in game while playing games. I have looked in setup and the sound options, i have only checked microphone for recording. OS: Windows XP Soundcard: Realtek AC97 Audio Any suggestions would be much appreciated! EDIT : Fixed some spelling errors Last edited by Greger1990; 11-23-2008 at 09:39 AM. |

Re: Problem with headset
could be that your microphone is too strong sending back environmental sound to the person at the other end of the line .. if you can't lower the recording volume .. try placing the microphone a little bit farther away from you, try shielding it with a box or something so that sound can only get in from one direction .. something like a plastic ice cream cone might .. it makes it directional.

Re: Problem with headset
have you tried turning off everything else in your "mixer" that is not required for your skype use .. click mute one by one to figure out what is going on .. you may be picking up sound via the mixer or via your cabling ...
check this out .. just in case it's cabling http://www.techsupportforum.com/hard...enjoyment.html

Re: Problem with headset
It's an old article and may not seem relevant ..
but you never know .. you might be picking up sound via cabling .. I did .. and this is how it was cured. Quote:

Re: Problem with headset
Well, i think i found what was causing it. I checked my options again, and microphone was not muted on playback. So i muted it. BUT, now i can't record sound with my mic any more! On the record options, stereo mix is selected, but i can't deselect it, and i can't change it's volume. I can't select Microphone either.
I really hope this helps you. I need your help :( |

Re: Problem with headset
double click on the speaker icon in the systray to bring up the mixer. make sure the right device for sound is selected
under OPTIONS select properties and then recording, check that microphone is enabled, click OK and then on the RECORDING MIXER click on microphone see if that helps.
