Setting up TV as monitor
Hi everyone, I need some help. I have a Westinghouse 32" tv and I want to use it as my main monitor. I have a DVI to HDMI converter hooked onto the end of my DVI cable that runs from my video card. When I use this I can only get 960 x 600 resolution and as you know, thats not very good for 32". Is there any way I can make it a higher resolution with this setup or should I look at a different approach?

Re: Setting up TV as monitor
You also need to check what resolution the 32" is capable of displaying .. a few years ago the resolution was limited

Re: Setting up TV as monitor
it should be 1920x1080, 1440x900, or 1280x720. My DLP uses VGA in and only does 1440, supposedly on hdmi it can support all 3.

Re: Setting up TV as monitor
I seem to remember cases where the monitor from PC didn't cover the whole screen and required to be stretched with software .. but it was a couple of years ago now and the information has been buried in the recesses of my mind ..

Re: Setting up TV as monitor
On the website it says the optimum/native resolution is 1366 x 768 but I can't seem it get it that high through HDMI. http://www.westinghousedigital.com/d...px?itemnum=185

Re: Setting up TV as monitor
I guess mine is actually a 26", i measured wrong, and when I try to change the resolution the screen just goes black and it says that there is no input detected on the screen. So I have to ctrl+alt+del to reset the resolution.

Re: Setting up TV as monitor
The screen measurement is made diagonally from corner to corner but you'll see that it is easier to check the model at the back .. just place the model number you copied from the back into a new post

Re: Setting up TV as monitor
Have you tried a VGA connection? For some reasons, some displays wont accept all computer signals over HDMI.

Re: Setting up TV as monitor
several are that way. my DLP will support 1280, 1440, and 1920 resolutions over HDMI, but not from a computer.
