contrast and brightness bug
Hi,
I am facing a strange error/bug from last couple of days. I am using a Pentium iii Pc HP Pavilion 8865 with a viewsonic CRT monitor.Everytime I am booting my PC the Brightness/Contrast Tab of monitor is appearing on the middle of screen and is raising the Contrast and Brightness to maximum automatically. The tab is not disappearing and the control buttons of monitor are also not working.Only one button to lower the brightness is working and if i try to lower it as soon as I remove my hand it is automatically raising to highest level but the real problem is that the tab is not getting removed from screen even after the brightness and contrast level bar is raising to max i suspect it is a bug or virus or an hardware error in monitor.I have tried upgrading by windows xp and running antivir antivirus and restoring my pc to previous configuration but nothing worked out. i am thinking of reinstalling windows as last option. Can anyone help me out plz |

Re: contrast and brightness bug
Hello ,
now what i you need to do is go to your (device manager) now once there you will want to select from the toolbar of the window(veiw) then a drop down menu / from it you will select (show all hidden devices) now if you see any (red or yellow) quotation marks , make a note of what they and post them back here

Other Devices Multimedia Controller Multimedia Video Controller Please suggest. Also to update I have reformatted my PC once and that bar was there throughout my installation and even after that. Re: contrast and brightness bug
Hi Mike,
What I meant to say was that during the whole format the bug was appearing. Now since the PC has been reformatted the bug disappeared for 5minutes only but at the moment it is still existing. I just wanted to ask for my knowledge if it a driver issue then in my view it should have been gone after reformat with windows xp sp2. Please suggest and thanks for your cooperation. Regards |

Re: contrast and brightness bug
hello ,
okay so you still are having issues ? so you still have those yellow marks in the device manager ? so follow this link http://www.radarsync.com/ this site has an driver updater program that works great & it is for (free) / all you have to do is join as a memeber (free) install the program & then work thru it and it will get you all the drivers for your system for (free) this program will scan your system (mobo & added devices) and then search for the drivers now it will list them as for importance like (chipset , network adapter, video, ect..)it is best to download all that you need and to install them in the order that you download them for some of the drivers it may be nessary to disconnect from the internet & disable your antivirus so that it will not interfear with the installation process also have you been to the Microsoft Update site and gotten all your updates ? here you not only get patches but drivers for your softwares core system !! i recommend doing a custom scan for it will show you updates that are hdden and will stablize your system you do not have to download all of them but i recommend all of them except for windows media player 11 if you dont want it let me know if this solves youe issues

Re: contrast and brightness bug
This would not be a driver issue if it was doing this during the reinstall.
I suspect one of the monitor buttons are stuck or broken. You do have driver issues. but it is not the reason for the monitors odd behavior. Start at the site below to find drivers. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...=60762&lang=en

Re: contrast and brightness bug
Hello ,
sorry for not getting back sooner Michigan has been going thru major storms but i was thinking the same thing about a stuck or broken button has any one else been useing the pc ? could they have been making adjustments to their liking and then the button got stuck try pushing them to see if the stick or release some times you can get them to release by working them so that what is causeing them to stick not to cause this by repeated pushing
